PWF's 5th Annual Garden Party

Friday, July 24, 2009
6:30-8:30 PM
BARB JOHNSON'S HOUSE
Speaker: Ginny Chapman
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
2 Corinthians 9:6-9
The garden party was a hit again this year! Everyone really enjoyed all aspects of this fun event. And our speaker Ginny Chapman did a great job. The small group time and discussion questions were meaty and encouraging. The food was "just right" and the weather could not have been better! Many women stayed until after midnight talking and laughing outside under Barb's gazebo! We just could not get enough fellowship with one another!

In the winter of 1983, a few women from Seattle began talking about the distinctive needs of Christian women who worked outside the home. At that time, most churches offered women's ministry programs during work hours, making it difficult or impossible for working women to participate. Also, women in the workplace seemed to have particular needs they wanted to discuss and topics about which they wanted to learn.
After prayerfully considering these needs, a group of women decided to host a breakfast meeting and invite working women in the community . . . and they hoped 10 to 12 women would respond. The meeting took place in March of 1984, and to the delight of all, more than 50 women attended. Thus the birth of Professional Women's Fellowship and its ministry to women in the greater Seattle area began.
Thank you to all our guests, speakers and volunteers who helped with and attended the event. We are proud of PWF's milestone and are grateful to all the women who have invested in this ministry.

Women were inspired as we learned what it means to "do good work."
Denise Daniels shared with us the theology undergirding what kind of work we should be doing, and how we should be doing it.
Women were challenged as they shared with other women their own story of "doing good work."
And women were Connected by joining the network of other PWF women in their community.

"A Well Water Garden"
Isaiah 58:11
The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.
